The Oaf Can Move!

Here we have it. My first animated film. Yep. I hope it gets all the awards.
Yeah I'm kidding, but I am proud of my little guy and his shenanigans. I might even start a series with him to practice my animating because I actually really like it. It reminds me a bit of stop motion, which I've done a lot of, and I really like finding sound effects for the videos.
This picture is where it all started. Well, kinda, I had a sketch before this, but this is the first time I put Pablo into form. He started a little squat, but that would soon change.

After tweaking and re-tweaking, I arrived at this for a past project. Of course for my purposes I didn't need the characters seen on the mountain, so for the animation I got rid of those.
And that made it look like this. Next step was to organize all the layers to make them workable in After Effects.
And so I did, making all the parts of Pablo 2.0 separate so I could manipulate them. I also made the mountain, tree, planet seen in the back, and vast expanse of space all their own layers.
And so came the first bit. I only got as far as Pablo 2.0 reaching up to the flower. Kind of a teaser too. Even I wasn't sure what I was gonna do. I had a few ideas, but I wasn't married to any of them. So that's how we got to the final draft. And I like it.
And so here is, in all his Remarkable Glory. What an Oaf, am I right?

I am excited to keep practicing my animation skills. I am grateful for the things I have learned so far, and hope to continue.

What a fun semester.
